Special package "Cycling tour : The Battle of Cambrai and the Western Front"

Setting off from the greenery of the Bois de Boulogne in Lille, you will soon discover reminders of the Great War. Lille suffered for four years under the occupation. The front line lay just a few kilometres to the west and at Armentières, where Commonwealth troops were stationed. A bike is the ideal way to tour these remembrance sites. At the end of the day, you can enjoy the comfortable facilities of your hotel right in the centre of Lille and, if you still have the energy, you can stroll through the narrow cobbled streets or enjoy a meal in one the many restaurants. On your second day you will learn the incredible story of the Flesquières tank as told by Philippe Gorczynski, a fount of knowledge on the Battle of Cambrai. And that evening, as sure as one good thing follows another, you will spend a restful night in his peaceful hotel set in its wooded grounds.
