Special package "Cassel/Maubeuge – war poetry"

Your route will take you through the fields of Flanders, so beloved by John McCrae, to their highest point, the town of Cassel. On the summit of its hill, General Foch set up his headquarters and you will yourself appreciate the strategic importance of this hill with its strong folkloric traditions. You will share some unforgettable time with a Greeter and his fund of astonishing stories of the Great War and retrace the steps of Wilfred Owen, following his last journey from the forester’s house where he wrote his last letter to his mother to the cemetery in which he is buried. Your tour will end at a place that is every bit as moving, Fort Leveau, scene of the deaths of many French soldiers in the early days of the War.
